Project Summary/Abstract
We will refine our assessment analysis practices for the current school year in order to gain a better understanding of where our students need additional instruction and enrichment. This will guide us as we move into the assessments that will be required for the new essential standards . We will become familiar with the NC new essential standards for 5th grade science and create lessons and projects that can be taught to reflect these new standards. These lessons and projects will be created and developed using the same best practice strategies we used to create lessons this past year. Like last year, this collaborative effort will allow for differentiation in order to meet individual student needs so that each student can become successful in science.

Project Goals
  1. Teachers will identify best practices in inquiry based science instruction in rubrics or checklists.
  2. Teachers develop improved science inquiry lessons aligned with the new Essential Standards and create assessments based on best practices.
  3. Using lessons previously developed and compiled with concept specific interventions, enrichment and teaching strategies, students demonstrate growth from pre and post tests.
